If you’re looking to buy a Digital Charity Art (DCA), Digital Oceans V2 NFT you are in the right place! This simple guide will teach you how to setup a Metamask wallet & get Polygon (MATIC) on the Polygon network.
First things first… You will need to download Metamask!
Metamask is a browser extension, bridging the individual to the crypto world. To use Metamask on your browser, you must use one of the browsers which support Metamask, including: Chrome, Firefox, Brave & Microsoft Edge. There is also a Metamask app on the google play store for your smartphone. For an easy YouTube guide to download Metamask click here.
To download Metamask directly from the MetaMask website, click here for the direct download link and follow the simple instructions on the site to download the extension for Metamask.
After the download is complete you will be redirected to the Metamask setup page. Follow this route and instructions:
1. Get Started
2. Create a wallet
3. Create a Password
4. Set recovery phrase (Used to be known as ‘seed phrase’). This recovery phrase is essential and must be kept secure.
5. To activate the main hub of the Metamask extension click the puzzle piece in the top right of your browser and then click the Metamask logo.
6. Once you have set up your Metamask account you will now need to link the Polygon network to your Metamask. (Note that Polygon is often already present in Metamask without needing to do step 6 at the time of writing)
To do this head on over to the polygon website to create and link a polygon wallet, click here. Simply click ‘Metamask-connect using browser wallet’ and then press next and connect.
Now, you will need to head back to your Metamask account. In the top right you will see a dropdown box showing that you are currently on the Ethereum Mainnet, we need to change this to the Polygon network. To do this click custom RPC and fill out the boxes with these details:
- Network name = Matic Mainnet
- New RPC URL = https://rpc-mainnet.maticvigil.com/
- Chain ID = 137
- Currency Symbol = MATIC
- Block explorer URL = https://explorer.matic.network/
Once filled out, click save.
Now your Polygon wallet is linked to your Metamask wallet. For a video tutorial on bridging Polygon to Metamask click here.
8. If you have MATIC elsewhere- you can send it to your Metamask by copying your Metamask address to your clipboard and sending funds directly to this address. Or by hitting buy, then scrolling down to the ‘Directly deposit Ether tab’ and converting that Ether on your swapper of choice. (Note that your Ethereum address will be the same no matter what chain you are using for that metamask account. For example your Polygon address will be the same as your Ethereum address on that account).
a) Binance is a good option to use to buy MATIC and withdraw directly to the Polygon network. To transfer MATIC from Binance to Metamask — you can follow this simple YouTube tutorial! With our sale being in MATIC, you can simply withdraw MATIC from binance to your Polygon network Metamask address using the option on Binance to “withdraw to Polygon” on the Network part. Kucoin has the same functionality, and is another option.
b) If you’re a kiwi, you can use: easycrypto or bitprime. For simple instructions on how to buy MATIC from easycrypto and have it go straight to the polygon network click here. When you have opened the link replace USDT with MATIC and find the Polygon network.
c) You can buy Polygon blockchain tokens directly and transfer them to your Metamask wallet on the Polygon chain, or withdraw your MATIC from Binance into your wallet on the Polygon chain to avoid step 10.
10. If you have MATIC on the Ethereum network, you will need to bridge this MATIC to the Polygon network so that you don’t have to pay anymore high network/gas fees! If you have Ethereum tokens on the Ethereum network that you want to swap to MATIC for our sale, use this link to bridge them to the Polygon network (this is the same link you will use to bridge your MATIC). Then you can transfer them to MATIC using Quickswap (Polygons premier asset/token swapper) to avoid unnecessary fees!
Another simple bridging solution is https://zapper.fi/dashboard. Bridging from Ethereum to Polygon can be expensive for the first time, so we would recommend using Binance or Kucoin to purchase MATIC and withdraw on the Polygon network as a preferred option.
